సామగానం ప్రియం యస్యాః
సామగానమునందు ప్రీతి గలది. సామము సాధువైనది, ఉత్తమమైనది. శుభప్రదమైనది. సామోపాసన గురించి తెలుసుకున్నవాడు లోకంలో ఐదువిధాలయిన సామాలను ఆరోపించుకుని ఉపాసన చేస్తాడు.ఛాందోగ్యోపనిషత్తులోని రెండవ అధ్యాయంలో పంచవిధసామోపాసన, సప్తవిధసామోపాసన చెప్పబడింది.
సాధువైనది - సామము, అసాధువైనది - సామంకాదు, సామరూపము అంటే - ఉత్తమరూపము,
అసామరూపము అంటే - అశుభరూపము, సామం కలిగింది అంటే - శుభం కలిగింది. అసామం కలిగింది అంటే - కీడు కలిగింది అని అర్ధం.
సామవేదము అంతా సంగీతపరమైనదే. సామగానం చేసినట్లైతే దేవతలు సంతోషిస్తారు అని దేవీ భాగవతంలోని సత్యవ్రతునికధలో చెప్పబడింది. అలాగే అమ్మ కూడా సామవేద పఠనమందు మిక్కిలి ప్రేమ గలిగినది. అందుచేతనే ఆమె సామగానప్రియా అనబడింది.
Saamagaanam priyam yasyaah
Divine mother loves gentle, auspicious, melodious and excellent music. Those who do Saamopaasana learns about 5 types of saamas and worship God.
Panchavidha saamopaasana and saptva vidha saamopaasana are explained in the second chapter of Chaandogya upanishath
One that is gentle is Saama. One that is not gentle is not Saama. Saama is the greatest form. One that is not the greatest form is not Saama. If it has Saama then it is utmost auspicious. If it is not utmost auspicious, then it does not have Saama.
Saama veda is filled with music. As per Devi Bhagavatam, one can please all devatas by singing Saama Veda. Divine mother also likes chanting Saama Veda. Hence, she is called Saamagaanapriya.
