విగ్రహము - దేహము. అర్ధవిగ్రహము - అర్ధదేహము. కాంతుడు - భర్త అయిన శివుడు. తన భర్తయైన ఈశ్వరుని అర్ధదేహంగా గలది. కాంతుని యొక్క అర్ధభాగమే కాంతార్ధము. ఇదే అర్ధనారీశ్వరతత్త్వము.
అర్ధనారీశ్వరుడు అంటే సగం దేహం పురుషుడు. సగం దేహం స్త్రీ అని అర్ధం. బొమ్మలో కుడివైపు శివుడు, ఎడమ భాగం పార్వతి ఉంటుంది. అంటే శరీరాన్ని నిలువుగా కోసినట్లైతే అందులో ఒక భాగం శివుడని, రెండవ భాగం శక్తి అని కాదు. శివశక్తులు ప్రతి అణువులోనూ ఆవరించి ఉన్నారు. ఒక అణువును రెండు భాగాలుగా చేస్తే అందులో ఒక భాగం శివుడుకాగా, రెండవ భాగం శక్తి. ఈ రకంగా జగత్తంతా శివశక్తులమయం అని గుర్తించాలి.Vigraha means body. Ardha vigraha means half body. Kaantha means husband. Half of mother's body is her husband - Lord Shiva. This is the phenomenon called Ardhanareeshwara.
In the picture, Shiva's body is on the right hand side and Shakti's body in on the left hand side. It does not mean that if you cut the body into half longitudinally, one half will be Shiva and the other half will be Shakti. The secret being revealed here is Shiva and Shakti are two equal halves of anything and everything in this creation.
