ఎటువంటి ద్వైతభావము లేకుండా వృత్తశూన్యమైన మనస్సు పరమాత్మ యొక్క నివాస స్థానము. మనస్సు అనేది సంకల్ప వికల్ప సంఘాతం. అదే మాయ. ఆ మాయ కనుక పటాపంచలైతే పరమాత్మ దర్శనం అవుతుంది.
ప్రతీ జీవిలోనూ జ్ఞానేంద్రియాలు, కర్మేంద్రియాలు ఉంటాయి. వీటన్నింటినీ సక్రమంగా నడిపించేది మనస్సు. నివృత్తి ధర్మం గల బుద్ధి ప్రకాశాత్మకము (పర బ్రహ్మ స్వరూపం). ప్రవ్రుత్తి ధర్మం గల మనస్సు విమర్శాత్మకం (శక్తి స్వరూపం). అవ్యక్తోపాసన నివృత్తి. విగ్రహారాధన ప్రవృత్తి. బుద్ధి వికసిస్తే మనస్సు లయం అవుతుంది. మనస్సు వికసిస్తే బుద్ధి లయం అవుతుంది. ప్రాపంచిక విధానమంతా ప్రవృత్తిరూపం. మనస్సుచే నడిపించబడేది. అందుకే అమ్మను మనోమయీ అని పిలుస్తున్నారు.
భగవద్గీత 12వ అధ్యాయం
క్లేశొధికతరః తేషామ్ అవ్యక్తాసక్తచేతసామ్
ఆవ్యాక్తాహి గతిర్దుఖం దేహవద్భిరవాప్యతే
ప్రవృత్తి మార్గం గొప్పదా నివృత్తి మార్గము గొప్పదా అన్న ప్రశ్నకి కృష్ణ భగవానుడు ఇలా సమాధానం ఇచ్చారు. "ప్రవృత్తి నివృత్తి మార్గాలు రెండూ గొప్పవే. సాధకుని స్థితిని బట్టి మార్గము సూచించాలి. దేహము పట్ల తాదాప్యత కలిగిన వారికి, తద్వారా వచ్చే బంధుమిత్రాదుల పట్ల మమకారం తీరని వారికి నివృత్తి మార్గము చాలా క్లేశబూయిష్టమైనది. వారు ప్రవృత్తి మార్గమునే అనుసరించాలి. బుద్ధి వికసించి మనస్సు లయం అయిన జ్ఞానికి నివృత్తి మార్గము సరి అయినది".
A mind that is devoid of any worldly interest is abode to Paramaatma. The mind swings between decision-execution of various activities. But if you devoid it from these and keep it still, you will see the attributeless paramaatma in it.
All beings have limbs and sense organs. The mind is the administrator of these organs. It is the administers various activities one performs while worshipping God. This is the path of Pravrutti (Outer worship). In the path of nivrutti, the intellect analyses and determines 'not this' making you shun all worldly interests. There are no mindful actions to perform here. If Nivrutti is 'Shivam', then Pravrutti is 'Shakti'. All worldly matters (Pravrutti) are administered by the mind (Manah). Hence Divine Mother is called 'Manomayi'
Bhagavadgita 12th Chapter
Kleshodhikatarah teshaam avyaktaasaktachetasaam
avyaktaahi gatirdhukham dehavadbhiravaapyate
Lord Krishna answered the question "which path of these two is superior, Pravrutti or Nivrutti?" in Bhagavadgita. Lord said, "Both Pravrutti and Nivrutti are good in their own respect. It depends on the person who is seeking me. Those who are still attached to their physical body and still love their kith and kin should not indulge in Nivrutti. A learned person whose mind is dissolved in the intellect and who shuns all worldly affairs saying 'not this' should choose the path of Nivrutti."
