దైత్యులను నాశనము చేసేది. అధర్మపరులే దైత్యులు. వీరు ఎక్కడో లేరు మనలోనే ఉన్నారు. దేవదానవులిద్దరూ ఒక తండ్రి సంతానమే అనే మాట మనం మరిచిపోకూడదు.
కశ్యపునికి దితియందు కలిగినవారు దైత్యులు. అదితియందు గలిగినవారు దేవతలు. దనువు నందు గలిగినవారు దానవులు. వీరందరూ శక్తి, యుక్తి, శౌర్యపరాక్రమాలలో సమానమైనవారు. నిష్టాగరిష్టులు. అయితే దేవతలు ధర్మస్వరూపులు. మిగిలినవారు అధర్ములు. అవైదికులు, అజ్ఞానులు, దేహమే ఆత్మ అని నమ్మేవారు.
పూర్వకాలంలో బ్రహ్మదేవుని దగ్గర పరబ్రహ్మతత్త్వాన్ని తెలుసుకోవటానికి వెళ్ళారు దేవరాజైన ఇంద్రుడు, రాక్షసరాజు విరోచనుడు. కంటిపాపలో కనిపించేదే ఆత్మ. అని చెప్పాడు బ్రహ్మ. కనుపాపలో కనుపించేది ఈ శరీరమే. కాబట్టి ఈ శరీరమే ఆత్మ అని నమ్మి తన రాజ్యానికి తిరిగి వచ్చేశాడు విరోచనుడు. అదే విషయాన్ని ప్రచారం చేశాడు. ఇంద్రుడు మరింత లోతుగా అలోచించి బ్రహ్మ దగ్గర దీక్ష తీసుకుని పరబ్రహ్మతత్త్వాన్ని తెలుసుకున్నాడు. తన రాజ్యానికి తిరిగి వచ్చి, "ఈ శరీరం ఉన్నది అంటే అది ఆత్మ వల్లే. ఆత్మను గురించి తెలుసుకోవడానికి దేవుడు మనకిచ్చిన పరికరం ఈ శరీరం. కాబట్టి అందరూ ధర్మాన్ని పాటించండి. ఆత్మ జ్ఞానం సంపాదించండి" అని చెప్పాడు. (ఆత్మ జ్ఞానానికై ఈ శరీరాన్ని ఎలా వాడుకోవాలో తెలిపేదే సనాతన ధర్మం.)
అందుకే దేవతలకు దైత్యాలకు చుక్కెదురు. వీరిరువురి మధ్య కలహాలను మనం దేవ కార్య సముద్యుత అనే నామంలో చదువుకున్నాం.దైత్యులు ఆత్మ విద్యలో ఆటంకాలు కలిగిస్తారు కనుక అమ్మ వారిని నాశనం చేస్తుంది.
Daitya Shamani means one who destroys Daityas. Daityas don't follow Dharma. Devatas on the contrary follow and promote Dharma.
Devatas and Daityas reside in our body. Not somewhere out in heaven or hell. As per the puranas, Prajapathi Kashyap has three wifes. 1.Diti, 2.Aditi, 3.Dhanuvu. Daityas are sons of Diti. Devatas are sons of Aditi and Danavas are sons of Dhanuvu. They all are highly and equally capable.
Once upon a time, the king of Devatas Indra and the king of Daityas Virochana went to Lord Brahma to learn about Atma. Brahma said, 'what you see inside your eyes is Atma'. Virochana interpreted it like this. "We see our own body in the eyeball (in front of a mirror). So this body is Atma". Indra did further research and went forward to learn Atma vidya. He found the real Atma - the soul. Virochana returned to his kingdom and told everyone that the body is Atma. So pursue it. Whereas Indra returned to his kingdom and preached that Atma is the reason why this body exist. God gave this body as a tool to pursue Atma (Dharma is nothing but a set of guidelines explaining how to use this body in pursuit of Atma).
Due to this, Daityas and Devatas always have a clash. We learnt this in the nama Deva karya samudyuta. Because Daityas obstruct the pursuit to Atma, Divine mother destroys them.
