పరమాత్మ నిర్గుణస్వరూపిణి. కాబట్టి చింతించటానికి వీలులేదు. రూపంలేదు. ఈమె అవ్యక్తస్వరూపిణి. పంచభూతభావనలేనిది. ఆవాంగ్మాన గోచరమైనది. మనస్సుకు, వాక్కుకు కూడా కారణమైనది. అంటే వాటికన్న పురాతనమైనది. కాబట్టే ఇంద్రియాలతో ఆత్మను తెలుసుకోలేము.
కఠోపనిషత్తు ఇలా చెప్పింది:
నచక్షుర్గచ్ఛతి నవాగ్గచ్ఛతి నోమనఃఆత్మ ఉన్న చోటికి వాక్కు వెళ్ళలేదు. కనులు పోలేవు. అందుకే పరదేవత రూపము చింతించరానిది. ఆలోచించలేనిది. అచింత్యరూపా అని చెప్పబడింది.
Paramaatma has no attributes. Mind, Senses and Intellect. All these faculties dwell on attributes like form, glow, character, logic, the 5 elements etc. So they cannot help to know the One that is without any attributes. Atman is beyond the reach of these faculties.

Eyes can't see Atman. Speech cannot explain Atman. Mind cannot imagine Atman
