703. Sarvaga

Divine mother is not confined to  a period or place. So she is called sarvantaryaami. Devi Gita also has a similar meaning.

Sarvam drushyam mama sthaanam sarve kaalaa prataatmakah |
Utsava sarva kaaleshu yatoham sarva roopinee ||

I am the head of everything. I am space and time. I am all the kaalas. Everything is filled with me. Senses get their power from me.

It is said like this in devi puranam. Vedas, Yagnas, Heaven, Earth and the whole universe are filled with parabrahma. All liquids are filled with it. All animals are filled with it. All birds, insects, plants, mountains everything is filled with para brahma.

Upanishaths also tell the same. It is said like this in Chandogya upanishath: All the four directions in this universe are the 1st part of para brahma. Land, sky, oceans, mountains, rivers are its 2nd part. Fire, sun, moon, Lightening in the sky etc are 3rd part of parabrahma. Life, senses, mind etc are its 4th part.

Agnis explained attributes of parabrahma to Upakoshala like this. Sun, moon, sky, earth etc are deformations of parabrahma. The element of parabrahma present in sun and the one in me are same. All the directions, stars, the five elements and myself share the same elements of parabrahma. The lightening in the sky and myself share the same element of parabrahma.

Uddalaka's son swethakethu finished his graduation and asked his father to teach him about parabrahma. Uddalaka asked him to fetch a fruit of the banyan tree. He did it. Uddalaka asked him to break it. He did it. Uddalaka asked, "Whats inside"?. He said,"seeds". Uddalaka said,"Break the seed and tell me what's inside". Swethakethu said "nothing". Uddalaka said, "So is this huge banyan tree coming out of nothing? No. There should be something in this small seed that is able to create this huge banyan tree. That is parabrahma. You can't see it with eyes. You have to experience it". Uddalaka further asked Swathakethu to get some salt and two glasses of water. Swethakethu did it. He mixed salt in one glass and asked Swethakethu to keep them aside. Next morning, Uddalaka asked Swethakethu to find out which glass has salt. He could tell it by mere visual inspection because salt is dissolved in the water. So he tasted the water to find out. Then Uddalaka said, "Just like this salt, parabrahma is dissolved in this whole universe. It is dissolved inside you. To find it out you should meditate and experience it. It is not visible to your eyes"
