601.Dakshayagna vinaasini

Daakshaayani is daughter of Daksha prajapathi. After marriage of Daakshayani with Lord Shiva, Shiva became Daksha's son in law. One day, Lord Brahma conducted a Yaga and call all the devatas and prajapathis. Daksha came a little late to that yaga. Rest all have already arrived and sat waiting for Daksha. As he arrived, others stood in respect and welcomed Daksha respectfully. But Lord Shiva did not stand up. He did not even looked at Daksha. He was in trance.

Daksha felt insulted with Lord Shiva's behavior. He used to express this anger on Dakshaayani. She's not  aware of this incident. He used to avoid her in all family gatherings. After sometime, Daksha organized one yagna. He invited all the devatas and all the daughters. But not Dakshaayani. Dakshaayani wants to meet all her siblings and parents. So she wanted to go to the Yagna. She told the same to Lord Shiva. Shiva warned that going there without an invitation might cause insult. But she did not pay heed. Then Shiva said, "do as you like". He asked pramada ganas to accompany her.

Dakshaayani went to Dakshayagna. Daksha did not welcome her. He did not pay any attention to her. She only went to her farther and said 'Hi'. Daksha asked, "Why did you come". Dakshaayani asked, "Why? What's wrong?". He said," Your husband is an egomaniac. He doesn't know how to respect great people like me. He doesn't do any service to me". Dakshaayani couldn't bear this insult. She raised sacred fire(Yogagni) and burnt herself in it. Lord Shiva heard this news from pramada ganas. He could bear separation from Daakshaayani. He shivered in wrath. Veerabhadhra emerged out of that anger. He along with pramada ganas went and destroyed the Daksha yagna. Veerabhadhra killed Daksha.

Later all the devatas brought Daksha back to life and attached goat head to him. From then onwards, Daksha is called ajamukha. Because Divine mother is the root cause of destruction of Daksha yagna, she is called Dakshayagna vinaasini
