గుణములు జీవితం లోని ప్రతీ విషయంలోనూ ముఖ్య భూమిక వహిస్తాయి. సత్త్వ గుణం మానసిక సంతులతను పెంపొందిస్తుంది. దాని వలన సృజనాత్మకత, ధర్మాధర్మ విచక్షణ మొదలగునవి కలుగుతాయి. రజో గుణం రాగ ద్వేషాలను పెంపొందిస్తుంది. ఆశ అభిమానం మొదలగునవి దీని వలన కలుగుతాయి. తమో గుణం వైరాగ్యాన్ని పెంపొందిస్తుంది. దీని వలన నిద్ర, బద్ధకం మొదలగునవి కలుగుతాయి.
Gunas play a role in every aspect of our life. They are Sattva, Rajas and Tamo. Sattva guna promotes mental balance. Innovation, creativity, power of discretion etc are faculties of Sattva guna. Rajo guna promotes passion. Greed, attachment, affection etc are faculties of Rajo guna. Tamo guna promotes indifference/apathy. Detachment, laziness etc are faculties of Tamo guna. Divine mother is the balanced mixture of the three gunas. Hence she is called Trigunaatmika.
