Chandas means meter. It is poetic meter used in versification of knowledge. Sacred scripts of Hindu mythology are written in the form of verses (shlokas). These verses are written abiding to the rules of Chandas. There are many types of Chandas like Trishtup, Anushtup, Gayatri etc. Gayatri Chandas is considered to be the most prominent of all of them.
Learning stuff in the form of verses helps students to form patterns in their mind. Also, Hindu saints embedded beeja aksharas (letters impregnated with specific sound energy) in some of the verses. When these letters are spelled out while reciting the verse, the sound vibrations emitted will have positive effects on the student's mind.
Saara means essence. Divine mother is the essence of all these Chandas. Hence, she is called Chandas Saara.
పద్య రచనలో ఉండే నియమాలను ఛందస్సు అంటారు. సనాతన ధర్మంలో వాంగ్మయం అంతా ఛందోబద్దంగా ఉంటుంది. ఆలా రచించబడిన శ్లోకాలు చదివితే పిల్లల మెదడులో జ్ఞాన రంధ్రాలు ఏర్పడతాయి. వారు వాటిని ఎన్నటికీ మరిచిపోరు. అంతే కాక మన ఋషులు ఈ పద్యాలలో బీజాక్షరాలను అమర్చారు. వాటిని పలికినప్పుడు వచ్చే ధ్వని తరంగాలు మెదడుపై చాలా మంచి ప్రభావాన్ని చూపుతాయి.
త్రిష్టుప్, అనుష్టుప్, గాయత్రి మొదలుగా అనేక రకాల ఛందస్సులు ఉన్నాయి. వీటన్నింటిలోనూ గాయత్రి అత్యుత్తమమైనది.
ఈ సమస్త ఛందస్సుల సారం మన అమ్మ లలితమ్మే. అందుకే ఛందస్సారా అని పిలవబడుతోంది.
