చండి - కోపము గలిగినది. భగవద్భక్తులు కాని వారియందు కోపముగా నుండునది. దుర్గాదేవియే చండిక, ప్రచండమైన పరాక్రమము గలది. తీక్షణమైన శాసనములు గలది. శత్రువుల హృదయాలలో భయాన్ని కలుగచేసేది.
తతో దేవీ శరీరా త్తు వినిప్రాంతాని తిభీషణా
చండికా శక్తి రత్యుగ్రా శివాశతనినాదినీ
పరమేశ్వరి శరీరమునుండి అతిభయంకరమైన, అత్యుగ్రమైన స్వరూపం ఒకటి బయటకు వచ్చింది. ఆమె ఆజ్ఞలకు భయపడే గాలి సవ్యంగా వీస్తున్నది. సూర్యుడు ప్రకాశిస్తున్నాడు. చంద్రుడు చల్లదనాన్నిస్తున్నాడు. చండముండాది రాక్షససంహారం చెయ్యటానికే చండిక ఆవిర్భవించింది.
Chandi - One who is angry. Mother is angry upon those who are not abiding by the divine laws, those who cause difficulties to her devotees (those in path of Mukthi (Liberation)). Her demeanor is intense. No enemy (Demons) can fight and defeat her. She is Durga
Tato devee shareeraa ttu vinipraantaani tibheeshanaa
chandikaa shakthi ratyugraa shivaashathaninaadinee
An avatar came from Divine mother. It is very frightening and very intense. The wind is blowing out of fear. Sun and Moon are shining out of fear. Every one is frightened after seeing her. She came to kill all the demons. She is Chandika. She is Durga.
