ఆత్మ అంటే - జీవుడు. అగ్నిలో నిప్పురవ్వలు ఏరకంగా ఉంటాయో, అలాగే పరమేశ్వరునిలో ఈ జీవులందరూ ఉంటారు.
శివుని యొక్క ఎనిమిదవ మూర్తి ఆత్మ. ఇది మిగిలిన ఏడు మూర్తులను వ్యాపించి ఉన్నది కాబట్టి విశ్వమంతా వ్యాపించి ఉన్నది అని అర్ధం.
ఆత్మ అంటే - పరబ్రహ్మమే. ఆ పరబ్రహ్మయే జీవులన్నింటి యందు బ్రహ్మరంధ్రం గుండా ప్రవేశించాడు అని చెప్పటం జరిగింది.
ఆత్మ అనేది అధోరణీయాం మహతో మహీయాం అణువుకన్న చిన్నదైనది. మహత్తు కన్న పెద్దదైనది. ఆది మధ్యాంతములు లేనిది. సృష్టి స్థితిలయాలకు కారణభూతమైనది, నిరాకారమైనది, నిర్గుణమైనది, అన్నింటికీ సాక్షీభూతమైనది, జీవులు చేసిన కర్మలకు తగిన ఫలితాన్ని ఇచ్చేది, సత్యము, నిత్యము అయినది, జ్ఞానమయమైనది, అనంతమైనది, అపరిచ్ఛిన్నమైనది, ఆనందమయమైనది, స్వతంత్రము, స్వతఃసిద్ధము, స్వతః ప్రమాణము గలది, నిర్మలము, నిశ్చయము, శుద్ధము, అనంతము అయినది. ఇదే ఆత్మ.
ఆత్మ అంటే - పరబ్రహ్మమే. ఆత్మ అమేయము. ఇది సర్వవ్యాప్తి. ఈ జగత్తంతా వ్యాపించి ఉన్నది కాబట్టి దీన్ని కొలవటానికి వీలులేదు. ఆత్మను తెలుసుకోవటం కష్టము. ఇంద్రియాలచేత ఇది తెలుసుకోబడదు. ఆత్మ ఉండే చోటికి కనులుగాని, చెవులుగాని మనస్సుగాని పోలేవు. ఇంద్రియాలకు అతీతమైనది. ఇంద్రియాలకు ఆ శక్తినిచ్చేదే ఆత్మ. కళ్ళకు చూసే శక్తిని ఇచ్చేది ఆత్మ. చెవులకు వినికిడి శక్తిని ఇచ్చేది ఆత్మ. మనసుకు ఆలోచించే శక్తిని ఇచ్చేది ఆత్మ. ఈ రకంగా ఇంద్రియాలకు వాటి శక్తినిచ్చేదే ఆత్మ. కాబట్టి ఆత్మను ఇంద్రియాల ద్వారా తెలుసుకోలేము. అందుకే అది ఆమేయాత్మా అనబడుతున్నది.
ఆత్మ వేదికపైన ఉన్న దీపం వంటిది. దీపం ఉన్నంత వరకే నాటకం జరుగుతుంది. అది ఆరిపోతే నాటకం ఆగిపోతుంది. కానీ నాటకంలో జరిగే ఏ విషయం దీపాన్ని ప్రభావితం చేయలేదు. వేదిక మన శరీరం. జీవితం నాటకం. ఆత్మయే దీపం.
Atma means Jeeva. Just like how sparks live in fire, all jeevas are live of Paramatma
Atma is the 8th form of Shiva. It is spread across the remaining seven forms. Hence it is spread across the whole universe
It is described in previous names that the Paramatma enters the body through brahma randhra. That is called Jeeva/Atma.
Atma is stateless. It is larger than the largest. Smaller than the smallest. It neither has a beginning nor an end. It is the reason for the Creation, Sustenance and Destruction. It is shapeless, it has no attributes. It witnesses everything. It gives the results based on your karma. It is the truth. It is everlasting. It is the embodiment of knowledge. It cannot be torn or destroyed. It is the ultimate happiness. It is free. It is pure. It is Atma.
Atma means parabrahma. It is boundless. Spread everywhere. Not perceivable by senses. Eyes cannot see it. Ears cannot hear it. Mind cannot think of it. It is the one from which the senses draw their energy. It gives the power of vision to eyes. The power hearing to ears. The power of thinking to Mind. Hence it cannot be reached by senses. Hence it cannot be measured.
Its like a lamp on the stage. The drama continues as long as the lamp is on. If the lamp is off, the drama stops. But the lamp is never influenced by anything that's happening on the stage. Body is the stage and life is the drama. Atma is the lamp.
