మణిపూరాధిష్టా దేవత యొక్క బీజము, శక్తి కీలకము అన్నీ కూడా ల కార సంకేతంగానే ఉంటాయి. కాబట్టి ఈ దేవతను లాకిన్యంబా అంటారు.యోగినీన్యాసంలో మణిపూరాన్ని వివరిస్తూ
దిక్పతే నాభిపద్మే త్రివదన విలసద్దంష్ప్రణీం రక్తవర్ణాం
శక్తిం దంభోళిదండాం అభయమపి భుజై ధారయంతీం మహోగ్రాం
దామర్యాద్యై పరీతాం పశుజన భయదాం మాంసధాత్వైకనిష్టాం
గౌడాన్నాసక్తచిత్తాం సకల సుఖకరీం లాకినీం భావయామః ||
నాభిస్థానంలో పదిదళాలుగల పద్మమున్నది. దానిలో మూడు ముఖములు, కోరలు గలిగి, రక్తవర్ణములో ఉన్నది, చేతులయందు వజ్రము, శక్తి, దండము, అభయముద్రలు గలిగినది. మాంసధాతువునందుండునది, గుడాన్నమునందు ప్రీతిగలది, సమస్తసుఖాలను ఇచ్చేది అయిన లాకినీ దేవికి నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను.

శంకర భగవత్పాదులవారు తమ సౌందర్య లహరిలోని 40వ శ్లోకంలో మణిపూరాన్ని వివరిస్తూ
తటిత్వంతం శక్త్యా తిమిర పరిపంథి స్పురణయా
స్పురన్నానా రత్నాభరణ పరిణద్ధేంద్ర ధనుషమ్ !
తవ శ్యామం మేఘం కమపి మణిపూరైక శరణమ్
నిషేవే వర్షంతం హరమిహిర తప్తం త్రిభువనమ్ !!
స్వాధిష్టానంలో మహాసంచరాగ్ని వల్ల దహనమైన లోకాలను ఇక్కడ, శివాశివులు తమ అమృతపుధారలతో తడుపుతుంటారు. ఇక్కడ శివుడు మేఘరూపంలో ఉండగా శక్తిసౌదామిని (మెరుపు) రూపంలో ఉంటుంది.
షట్చక్రనిరూపణంలో “మణిపూరచక్రం యొక్క కర్ణికలో అగ్నిమండలమైన త్రికోణము ఎర్రని రంగులో ఉన్నది. అక్కడ అగ్ని బీజము 'రం' మేషవాహనముపై నున్నది. ఈ బీజము అంక భాగాన సింధూరవర్ణము గల రుద్రమూర్తి ఉంటాడు. అతడు భస్మలేపనం చేసుకుని తెల్లగా మెరుస్తూ ఉంటాడు. అతడికి మూడుకనులుంటాయి. అభయవరద ముద్రలు ధరించి ఉంటాడు. అతడు సృష్టి సంహారకారి" అని చెప్పబడింది.
సంతానోపనిషత్తులో “మణిపూరంలో ఉండే దేవి వయోవస్థావివర్జితా ఆమెకు మూడు శిరస్సులుంటాయి.
గర్భస్థశిశువుకు మూడవనెలలో చక్షువులు ఏర్పడతాయి. ఇప్పుడు ఆ శిశువుకు నోరు, ముక్కు, కనులు ఏర్పడ్డాయి. ఈ మూడు ఇంద్రియాలే మూడు శిరస్సులు. ఈ నెలలో గర్భిణి స్త్రీకి గుడాన్నము మంచి పౌష్టికాహారము.
గర్భస్థశిశువుకు మూడవనెలలో చక్షువులు ఏర్పడతాయి. ఇప్పుడు ఆ శిశువుకు నోరు, ముక్కు, కనులు ఏర్పడ్డాయి. ఈ మూడు ఇంద్రియాలే మూడు శిరస్సులు. ఈ నెలలో గర్భిణి స్త్రీకి గుడాన్నము మంచి పౌష్టికాహారము.

గర్భస్థ శిశువుకు 3వ నెలలో కాళ్ళు చేతులు వస్తాయి.
The presiding deity of Manipura has seed, energy and key starting with symbol 'La'. So, this deity is called Lakinyamba.
Manipura is explained like this in Yogininyasam
dikpatē nābhipadmē trivadana vilasaddanṣpraṇīṁ raktavarṇāṁ
śaktiṁ dambhōḷidaṇḍāṁ abhayamapi bhujai dhārayantīṁ mahōgrāṁ
dāmaryādyai parītāṁ paśujana bhayadāṁ mānsadhātvaikaniṣṭāṁ
gauḍānnāsaktacittāṁ sakala sukhakarīṁ lākinīṁ bhāvayāmaḥ ||
There is a ten-petalled lotus in the navel. Goddess Laakini is here with three faces, fangs, blood color, diamond, Shakti, scepter and abhaya mudra in its hands. Salutations to Lakini Devi, who is in the flesh, who is lovely and who gives all pleasures.
Maṇipūrādhiṣṭāna dēvatā lākinī yukta viṣṇusvarūpiṇyambā
śrīpādukāṁ pūjayāmi tarpayāmi namaḥ
Saint Shankara describes Manipura in verse 40 of his Soundarya Lahari.
taṭitvantaṁ śaktyā timira paripanthi spuraṇayā
spurannānā ratnābharaṇa pariṇad'dhēndra dhanuṣam!
Tava śyāmaṁ mēghaṁ kamapi maṇipūraika śaraṇam
niṣēvē varṣantaṁ haramihira taptaṁ tribhuvanam!!
Here, Lord Shiva bathes the worlds burnt by the Great Fire of Swadhishtana with their nectar. Here Shiva is in cloud form while Shakti is in the Soudamini (lightning) form.
It is said like this in Shatchakranirupana “The fiery triangle in the atrium of the Manipurachakra is red in colour. There the beeja (seed) of fire - 'Ram' is on the Meshavahana(Goat). Near this beeja there is a rudra in vermilion color. He has white ash all over his body and glow in white color. He has three eyes. He has abhaya and varada mudras. He is the destroyer of the creation."
It is said like this in the Santanopanishat, “The goddess Vayovasthavivarjita in Manipura has three heads.
In the third month of pregnancy the baby has mouth, nose and eyes. These three senses represent the three heads. Gudanna is a good nutritious food for a pregnant woman in this month.
