సంకల్పమాత్రంచేతనే ఆవిర్భవించిన మహాగణపతి తననుపోలిన ఆరుగురు గణపతులను సృష్టించాడు. వారు
1. ఆమోద, 2.ప్రమోద, 3.సుముఖ, 4.దుర్ముఖ, 5.అవిఘ్న, 6.విఘ్నకర్త
వీరందరితో కలిసి మహాగణపతి యుద్ధానికి వెళ్ళాడు. అక్కడ విశుక్రునిచే స్థాపించబడిన జయవిఘ్నయంత్రాన్ని నాశనం చేశాడు.
ఆగమార్థంతు దేవానాం గమనార్థం తు రాక్షసాం |
కురు ఘంటా రావం తత్ర దేవతాహ్వాన లాంఛనం ||
మనం ఆధ్యాత్మికంగా ఎదుగుతుంటే తమ బలం తగ్గిపోతుందని మనలోని రాక్షసగణాలు సాధనకు అడ్డుపడుతుంటాయి. అందుకే పూజ చేసే ముందు ఆ అసుర భావాలను తరిమి కొట్టడానికి ఘంటానాదం చేస్తారు.
Divine Mother was overjoyed to hear that Mahaganesh had destroyed the Jayavignayantra created by Vishukra. Mahaganapati, by his mere will, created six Ganapatis like himself. They are
1.Aamoda, 2.Pramoda, 3.Sumukha, 4.Durmukha, 5.Avighna, 6.Vignakarta
Together with them Mahaganapati went to war and destroyed the Jayavignayantra established by Vishukra.
aagamaathantu devaanaam gamanaartham tu raakshasaam |
kuru ghantaaraavam tatra devataahvaana laanchanam ||
The rakshasas within us hinder progress of our spiritual endeavours because they fear that their strength will diminish if we grow spiritually. That is why the bell is rung before performing a puja. The sound of a bell will drive away those demonic feelings.
