453. Trinayanaa

సోమసూర్యాగ్నులనబడే మూడు నేత్రాలు గలది. తేజోవంతమైన మూడు నేత్రాలు గలది. కుడికన్ను - సూర్యుడు. ఎడమకన్ను - చంద్రుడు. ఫాలనేత్రము - అగ్ని అలాగే కుడికన్ను పగలు, ఎడమకన్ను - రాత్రి. ఫాలనేత్రము సంధికాలము.

జ్ఞానాత్మనే - నేత్రత్రయాయ ఔషట్

జ్ఞానమే మూడునేత్రాలుగా గలది. ఈ నేత్రాలవల్ల కలిగేది కాలజ్ఞానము. అంటే తిథి, పక్షము, మాసము, ఋతువు, ఆయనము, సంవత్సరము.

శంకర భగవత్పాదులవారు తమ సౌందర్య లహరిలోని 48వ శ్లోకంలో
అహః సూతే సవ్య తవ నయన-మర్కాత్మకతయా
త్రియామాం వామం తే సృజతి రజనీనాయకతయా |
తృతీయా తే దృష్టి-ర్దరదలిత-హేమాంబుజ-రుచిః
సమాధత్తే సంధ్యాం దివసర్-నిశయో-రంతరచరీమ్ ‖ 48 ‖

ఓ దేవీ ! నీ కుడికన్ను సూర్యాత్మకము పగలు, ఎడమకన్ను చంద్రాత్మకము రాత్రి. నీ మూడవ నేత్రము సంధ్యాకాలము సూచించుచున్నది.

Divine mother has three eyes called Soma, Surya, Agni. Bright with three eyes. Right eye - Sun. Left eye - Moon. Third eye - fire. Another interpretation is - right eye day, left eye - night, third eye is dusk/dawn.

Gnanatmane - Netratrayaya Aushat Divine mother has three eyes that represent the knowledge. Knowledge of time that is tithi, paksha, masa, ritu, ayana, year etc.

Saint Shankara in verse 48 of his Soundarya Lahari said like this ahaḥ sūtē savya tava nayana-markātmakatayā

triyāmāṁ vāmaṁ tē sr̥jati rajanīnāyakatayā |

tr̥tīyā tē dr̥ṣṭi-rdaradalita-hēmāmbuja-ruciḥ

samādhattē sandhyāṁ divasar-niśayō-rantaracarīm‖ 48‖ O goddess! Your right eye is sun-like during the day and your left eye is like moon-like at night. Your third eye represents twilight.
