అర్ఘ్యము అంటే చేతులు కడుక్కునే నీరు. త్రాగేందుకు ఇచ్చే నీరు. అమ్మ చైతన్యము అనే అర్ఘ్యంచేత పూజింపబడునది.
భావనోపనిషత్తులో
ఉజ్జ్వల దామోదానుసంధానమర్ఘ్యమ్
అంతఃపూజలో ఆత్మయే శ్రీదేవి అని గ్రహించి బ్రహ్మానందానుసంధానం చెయ్యటమే అర్ఘ్య ప్రదానము అని చెప్పబడింది. పరమేశ్వరిని అర్చించేటప్పుడు బాహ్యపూజ కన్న అంతఃపూజ విశేషఫలప్రదము.
సోహం భావేన పూజయేత్
సాధకుడు తానే పరమేశ్వరస్వరూపము అని భావించి అర్చన చెయ్యాలి. చిద్రూపము. ఆత్మ ఈ చైతన్యమే అర్ఘ్యము అని భావించి అర్చన చెయ్యాలి. అందుచేత అమ్మ చైతన్యార్ఘ్యసమారాధ్యా అనబడుతోంది. ఇక్కడ జ్ఞానమే అర్ఘ్యము అని భావన. ఆత్మజ్ఞానంతో, ఆత్మనే అర్ఘ్యముగా ఉపయోగించి దేవిని అర్చించాలి. జ్ఞానంతో ఆత్మానుభవం పొంది ఆత్మార్పణ గావించాలి.
Arghyam means water that is given to wash hands and drink. Consciousness is the Arghyam with which Divine mother is worshipped.

Ujjavala daamodaanusandhaanamarghyam
In antahpooja (internal worship) one has to feel that the soul is Paramaatma. That is like offering Arghyam in Antah pooja. Antah pooja is more effective in spiritual progress than any other method.
Soham bhaavena poojayeth
A practitioner should feel that he/she is not different from the paramaatma. He/she should strive to realize the Aatma that is inside the body. Hence Divine mother is called Chaitanyaarghya samaaraadhya. Here consciousness is Arghya. Aatma has to be realized by using Aatma as Arghyam. One has to offer Aatma to the Divine consciousness.
