అవిద్యాసంబంధమైన బంధాలను విడిపించేది. లౌకిక బంధాల నుండి విముక్తి కలిగించేది. అరిషడ్వర్గాలను జయింపచేసేది. రాగద్వేషాల నుండి తన భక్తులకు విడుదల కలిగించేది.
యయాతిదేవయానిల కుమారుడు తుర్వసుడు. అతని పెంపుడు కుమారుడు ఏకవీరుడు. పండితుడు, శాస్త్రవేత్త, ధర్మవిధుడు, పైగా పరాక్రమశాలి. ఏకవీరుడు రాజ్యం చేస్తున్న రోజులలో గంగానదీ తీరాన ఉన్న ఒక చిన్న రాజ్యాన్ని 'రభ్యుడు' అనే రాజు పాలిస్తున్నాడు. అతనికి పరమేశ్వరి అనుగ్రహంవల్ల ఒక కుమార్తె కలిగింది. ఆమె పేరు ఏకావళి.ఒక రోజున రాకుమార్తె 'ఏకావళి, తన చెలికత్తె యశోవతితో కలిసి గంగాతీరానికి వెళ్ళింది. అక్కడ కాలకేతుడనే రాక్షసుడు రాకుమారిని చూసి మోహించి, వారిద్దరినీ ఎత్తుకుపోయాడు. యశోవతి పరమేశ్వరి అనుష్ఠానమున్నది. ఒకరోజు రాత్రి పరమేశ్వరి ఆమెకు కలలో కనిపించి మరునాడు ఉదయమే గంగానది ఒడ్డుకువెడితే అక్కడ ఏకవీరుడు అనే
రాజుంటాడు. అతనికి జరిగిన విషయం చెప్పు. అతడు రాక్షసుణ్ణి చంపి మిమ్మల్ని రక్షిస్తాడని చెప్పింది.
పరమేశ్వరి మాటప్రకారం మరుసటి రోజు ఏకవీరుణ్ణి కలిసింది. విషయం తెలుసుకున్న ఏకవీరుడు రాక్షసుణ్ణి సంహరించి ఏకావళిని వివాహమాడాడు. ఈ రకంగా పరమేశ్వరిని అర్చించటంచేత రాకుమార్తె చెరవీడింది. ఏకావళికే కాదు పరమేశ్వరిని అర్చించే ఎవరికైనా సరే బంధనాలు ఉండవు. కాబట్టి ఆ దేవి 'బంధమోచనీ' అనబడుతుంది.

Turvasa is the son of Yayati and Devayani. Ekaveera is their adopted son. He is a pandit. He learnt all the vedas. A staunch follower of dharma and a great warrior. Rubhya is a feudatory king of a small province at the banks of river Ganga. He has a daughter called Ekaavali. She is born with the blessings of Divine Mother.
One day, princess Ekavali went to the banks of river Ganga along with her friend Yashovathi. Demon Kaalaketha kidnapped both of them from there. His intention was to possess Ekaavali. Yashovathi does puja of Divine Mother every day. So she had Divine Mother's blessings. One day, Divine Mother appeared in Yashovati's dreams and told her to go to the banks of river Ganga the next morning and meet Ekaveera. She told her to explain what happened to Ekaveera and seek his help.
Yashovathi did as advised by Divine Mother. Ekaveera killed the demon and rescued both of them. He also married Ekaavali. Like this Ekaavali got freed from bondage by praying Divine Mother.
