Taptraya represents our worries and concerns due to attachment to this body. Divine mother removes all the worries and makes the mind calm and pleasant (like moonlight). Tapatraya are 3 types:
1. Aadhyatmika - Diseases, desires and Arishadvargas
2. Aadhibhoutika - Difficulties we face due to wildfires, floods, earth quakes, weeping sounds of dogs, shrill cries of owl and attacks from other wild animals
3. Aadidaivika - Difficulties caused by rain, wind, suns heat, evil spirits and bad omens.
Taapamu has the quality of fire. So it burns you from inside. Divine mother douses it protects you from it's bad effects.

తాపత్రయము అనేటటువంటి సంసార లక్షణాలు గల అగ్నిచే దహించబడతున్న మానవులకు ఆహ్లాదము కలిగించునది. లేక తాపోపశమనము కలిగించునది. తాపత్రయాలు మూడురకాలు 1. ఆధ్యాత్మికము 2. ఆదిభౌతికము 2. ఆదిదైవికము.
1. ఆధ్యాత్మికములు - శరీరంలోకలిగే వ్యాధులు, మానసికమైన కామము, క్రోధము, జ్వరము, అలసత్వము, కపటము అవిశ్వాసము, అశ్రద్ధ మొదలైనవి.
2. ఆదిభౌతికములు - అగ్ని, వరద, భూకంపాలు, కుక్కల ఏడ్పులు, గుడ్లగూబల అరుపులు, కుక్కలు, నక్కలు, పులులు, పాములు మొదలగు వాటివల్ల కలిగే బాధలు.
3. ఆదిదైవికములు - దేవతా విగ్రహాల కన్నీరు, ఎండ, వాన, గాలి, యక్ష, రాక్షస, పిశాచాల వలన కలిగే బాధలు. ఈ మూడు తాపత్రయము అనబడతాయి.

తాపము అంటే - అగ్ని యొక్క గుణము. కాబట్టి ఇది అగ్ని లాగానే దహించివేస్తుంది. ఇటువంటి బాధను అమ్మ చల్లార్చి ఆహ్లాదంగా మారుస్తుంది.
